To Be or Not to Be...

Santhosh

The world famous speech of 'Hamlet', comes to my mind when I think of the future of Rahul Gandhi and his Congress party in India. The prince Hamlet thinks aloud whether to live or commit suicide as he exclaimes the words 'To be, or not to be, that is the question:'. The speech captures human hesitation, existential dread, and the heavy burden of deciding whether to face reality or escape it.

'Hamlet' is pure drama, by William Shakespeare. Be it a comedy or tragedy all his works stood the test of times.

I had the sad fortune to see a couple of dramas of Rahul Gandhi mimicing Narendra Modi how he handled international diplomacy through hugging. I felt sorry for Rahul Gandhi for impersonating Narendra Modi with another dork from his social community. He never looked like Hamlet, neither had any human emotions like Hamlet. Hamlet was a prince of Denmark. Not a Leader of the Opposition Party in the Indian parliament. But the message from Rahul Gandhi was absolutely clear:'to be the PM or not to be'.

Hamlet lost his father. Rahul Gandhi too. There was reason for Hamlet to feel frustrated. There was no reason to act like a joker for Rahul Gandhi before a large crowd. It seemed like that Rahul Gandhi does not have any self-respect at all. Most of his actions in the public in India reminds that of a dimwit. I do not know how behaved abroad often as he escaped from India when the parliament is not in session.

The LOP stands for 'Leader of Opposition Party'. But in Rahul Gandhi's case LOP stands for 'Lover of Pattaya', as somebody put it in the social media recently. I congratualte the humour hidden in the definition of LOP.
